Iran, South Korea display 80 artworks in Tehran

Iran and South Korea have brought together 80 artworks by artists from both countries in a Tehran exhibition aimed at strengthening cultural ties as regional tensions complicate direct exchanges.
The exhibition opened on November 5 at South Korea’s diplomatic premises in the Vanak neighborhood of northern Tehran.
The display features 40 works from each country. Iran’s contribution includes 30 paintings and calligraphic works and 10 sculptures by 40 artists.
The 40 South Korean works come from collections held by the embassy and the ambassador’s residence.
Ambassador Kim Junpyo said the number 40 was selected for its symbolic significance in Persian culture.
The exhibition also features traditional Korean clothing, including the Hanbok, as well as textile art and traditional garments from Iran’s central province of Yazd.
“Art knows no borders. Friendship needs no translation,” Kim said, expressing hope that a similar exhibition could be held in Seoul.
Organized by the South Korean Embassy and the Cultural Coordination Center of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, the exhibition was open to the public on November 6 and 7.
