Rural markets to be lunched in West Azarbaijan’s touristic villages

Rural markets are being established in touristic villages of West Azarbaijan Province with the aim of developing tourism, boosting local economy and supporting producers.
According to chtn.ir, Sajjad Hesami, the head of Rural Cooperative Department of West Azarbaijan Province said, “Currently, there are 19 rural markets in the province, and with planned arrangements, this number is set to increase to 27.
“The markets are active in the villages located near the cities of Urmia, Piranshahr, Chaldoran, Khoy, Sardasht, and Shahin Dezh.
He noted that planning and construction of new rural markets in other parts of the province in the coming months is on the department’s agenda.
Hesami noted that rural markets, in addition to directly supplying essential goods and agricultural products, provide direct employment opportunities for a significant number of villagers and play a crucial role in strengthening local economy and developing and promoting tourism.
Direct sale of traditional rural products in these markets, in addition to preserving indigenous culture, showcases the value of local branding.
West Azarbaijan Province can rightly be called the “Rainbow of Tourism.” Its breathtaking blend of historical and natural attractions, combined with a remarkable diversity of ethnicities and religions, has turned the province into a vibrant symbol of freedom, dignity, and respect.
The rich variety of ethnic groups and faiths in the region has given rise to unique historical and natural landmarks, as well as diverse customs and cultural traditions — each serving as a distinct ambassador of West Azarbaijan’s beauty and a magnet for visitors.
The province of diverse ethnicities and religions boasts over 1,800 nationally registered sites and several UNESCO World Heritage sites. Each of these landmarks is associated with different ethnic and religious groups and ranks among the most significant historical treasures of Iran.
