Iranian film ‘In the Arms of the Tree’ hits screen in Almaty
Iran’s cultural center in Kazakhstan presented an exclusive screening of ‘In the Arms of the Tree’ at the National Academy of Sciences in Almaty.
The event, part of “An Evening of Iranian Art and Cinema,” was attended by Kazakh cultural, academic, and media figures, along with the Iranian diaspora, inn.ir reported.
The film, directed by Babak Khajehpasha, portrays the emotional turmoil of a couple on the verge of separation and its impact on their children. It was Iran’s official submission for the 2025 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film
Kazakhstan’s National Academy of Sciences has been a pivotal venue for cultural exchanges between the two nations. This screening underscores the growing collaboration in the arts, particularly in film and animation.
The event also featured cultural exhibitions, including Iranian handicrafts and film posters, alongside a display of rare Persian manuscripts from Kazakh collections. These activities highlight the shared literary heritage and foster deeper cultural understanding.
The evening wrapped up with awards presented to Kazakh students who excelled in a virtual competition on the works of Persian poets, reflecting the enduring influence of Persian literature in the region.
