Malaysia’s RTM seeks TV program tie-ups with Iran
Suhaimi Sulaiman, director general of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), met with Iran's Ambassador to Malaysia Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi in Kuala Lumpur to explore broadcast cooperation opportunities, IRNA reported.
The Malaysian broadcaster expressed interest in working with Iran on joint programs after highlighting Iran's production capabilities in films, series, documentaries and animation. RTM executives attended Monday's meeting to hash out ways to expand television partnerships.
"Both countries have good grounds for developing joint cooperation in producing and broadcasting shared television programs," Mohammadi said during the talks.
The Iranian envoy pointed to strengthened bilateral ties over the past two years, noting several high-ranking Malaysian delegations had visited Iran.
Suhaimi emphasized the Islamic characteristics shared by both nations and pushed for collaborative television content creation.
He said RTM was familiar with Iran's broadcast production strengths across multiple formats.
The two sides agreed to exchange delegations and share information about each other's broadcasting capabilities as they work toward concrete partnerships.
Iran has been seeking to expand its media influence across Southeast Asia through cultural and broadcasting ties.
The ambassador previously described Iran-Malaysia relations as rooted in "cultural and civilizational elements" that have flourished over four decades.
