The top three spots were taken by teams from China, the US, and Poland.
The 36th International Olympiad in Informatics, which kicked off on September 1, drew hundreds of students from 96 countries.
The event, which wraps up on September 9, is organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria, with support from the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Library of Alexandria.
The Olympiad focuses on strengthening problem-solving skills among students and is considered the second-most popular student Olympiad after mathematics. Its goal is to promote computer science among high school students.
The Iranian team’s participation at the Egypt-hosted computer Olympiad was virtual and online due to a delay in the issuance of visas for the students.
