Portrait of Iranian composer Mashayekhi to be screened at Indian festival

A semi-feature documentary, ‘Bricolage: The Life of Nader Mashayekhi,’ directed by Mahmoud Tavassolian, is slated to participate in the Competition Section of the seventh edition of the International Folklore Film Festival in India.
The documentary offers a narrative on the personality, thoughts, and artistic life of Mashayekhi, a renowned Iranian composer and orchestra conductor, IRNA wrote.
The international version of the film runs for 47 minutes, with its technical production concluding this summer. The international distribution of this work is managed by Ariana Film, under the supervision of Fahimeh Rahapoor-Qasem.
The seventh edition of the International Folklore Festival in India, to be held in collaboration with the St. Thomas College Media Studies Block, Trissur, focuses on people-oriented cinema, peace initiatives, traditions, and biodiversity. The festival will take place from January 5 to 9, 2024, in the city of Kerala, India.
The term “bricolage” is a conceptual framework introduced by the French ethnologist and anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss in Europe. In this film, Mashayekhi’s perspective explores the reinterpretation of Iranian culture, combining tradition and modernity through the lens of this intellectual concept.
