South Pars Phase 11 reaches final capacity after 12th well comes on stream

The SPD11B platform in Iran’s South Pars gas field has reached a nominal production capacity of 1 billion cubic feet per day following the completion of its 12th well, the CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company said on Tuesday.
Touraj Dehqani said the achievement marked the completion of the first part of the Phase 11 development plan at its final capacity and represented a step forward in developing the latest border phase of the shared South Pars field.
“Drilling, completion and perforation operations on the 12th well at the SPD11B platform have been successfully completed, and with the well coming on stream, the platform’s nominal production capacity has increased to 1 billion cubic feet per day,” Dehqani told reporters.
He said the increase in production from Phase 11, given its location along the border of the shared field, was part of Pars Oil and Gas Company’s strategy to safeguard Iran’s share of the joint reservoir and maximize its production potential.
He described Phase 11 as one of the most strategic and final development phases of the South Pars field, the world’s largest gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar, and said its development had become a continuous operational process after years of ups and downs.
Dehqani said completing this part of Phase 11 and opening new drilling fronts could help strengthen the country’s stable gas supply capacity and safeguard Iran’s interests in the shared reservoir.
According to ISNA, Phase 11 is located in the border area of the shared South Pars field and therefore has a special position in Iran’s plans to develop the oil industry and increase production from the joint reservoir.
The project is being implemented with an investment of nearly $4 billion and is targeting stable production of 2 billion cubic feet per day of raw gas from this part of the shared field.
Under the Phase 11 development plan, offshore facilities are to be built and installed at two border locations, while 27 wells are planned to be drilled.
