Hana Bread Festival to boost food tourism, local economy
The head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization of Semirom, Fars Province, has announced that the Hana Traditional and Local Bread Festival has been officially added to Iran’s national tourism events calendar.
Saeed Soleimanian said the registration comes ahead of the second edition of the Hana Local Bread Festival, which is being held under the slogan “From Farm to Table.” The local festival has now been included in the country’s official calendar of national tourism events, according to chtn.ir.
He said that, in line with the objectives of the government’s transformation plan to organize and professionalize tourism events, the Hana Local Bread Festival — which is held annually in the second half of September — was registered in Iran’s tourism events calendar in August 2026.
Soleimanian noted that Hana’s traditional bread, as an important part of the area’s culinary and cultural heritage, holds a special place on the tables of local residents. The annual festival focuses on introducing and demonstrating the traditional bread-making process while promoting the region’s authentic food culture.
He added that this tradition reflects the local identity of the community, as well as the efforts of farmers and the hard work of local bakers. The festival also provides an opportunity to strengthen social interaction, promote public vitality and preserve long-standing traditions.
In addition to baking and selling traditional bread, the festival features a variety of local breads, as well as the region’s cultural, social and tourism attractions, handicrafts and traditional arts, presented through a range of exhibition stalls.
Soleimanian emphasized that holding the event could help attract more tourists to Hana and the surrounding area, contributing to the growth of the local economy, promoting the region’s cultural potential and strengthening food tourism.
He expressed hope that, through coordinated planning and the continued organization of the festival, it can be elevated to a provincial and eventually national-level event in the coming years.
