Iranian short film ‘The Blue Bicycle’ wins top prize at Paris festival

 
Iranian short film The Blue Bicycle won the Best Film award and received an honorary diploma at the 2026 Cinematic International Film Festival in Paris.
The film has also been selected for the festival’s official screening program and will be shown at the in-person event at L’Escurial cinema in Paris on August 1 and 2, 2026, IRNA reported.
Written by Siavash Saedpanah, Vahid Ahmadi and Bahman Sharifi, the film was directed by Saedpanah and produced by Saeed Nejati. It is a production of Eshraq Film Club.
The Cinematic International Film Festival in Paris aims to support independent filmmakers, discover and promote emerging cinematic talent, showcase creative works from around the world and foster connections between filmmakers, audiences and industry professionals.
The Blue Bicycle has also been selected for the main competition for Kurdish narrative films at the seventh edition of the 2026 Kobani International Film Festival.
The festival will take place from September 4 to 6, 2026, bringing together filmmakers and selected works from various countries. In recent years, it has emerged as an important platform for Kurdish and independent cinema in the region, showcasing films addressing cultural, social and human themes.
The Blue Bicycle tells a social and human story about the life of a teacher in a mountainous village in the Hawraman region of Iran’s Kurdistan Province. The film explores loss, empathy, forgiveness and human bonds through the symbol of a blue bicycle.
The film stars Armin Azizi, Ardeshir Ahmadi, Matin Veisi, Zhiran Ahadi, Omran Moradi, Azad Karimian, Asieh Khodrlaki and Delaram Ahmadi.
