Iran names three fencers for Islamic Solidarity Games

The Iranian Fencing Federation named a three-man saber team for the upcoming Islamic Solidarity Games.
The sixth edition of the multi-sport event will kick off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 7.
Ali Pakdaman – world No. 21 in the latest FIE Men’s Ranking – will be joined by six-time Asian medalist Mohammad Fotouhi and Taha Kargarpour in representing the country in the Saudi capital, with the fourth member of the team set to be unveiled in the coming days.
The 2023 Asian champion Pakdaman and Fotouhi were part of the Iranian quadruple that won the saber team gold at the 2021 ISG event in Konya, Turkey.
Pakdaman also bagged the individual silver medal, while Mohammad Rahbari, who is now the head coach of the Iranian men’s team, settled for a consolation bronze.
