Iranian climber Alipour secures Asian Games berth
Alipour secured his place at the multi-sport event after finishing fourth in the men’s speed event at the IFSC Climbing World Championships in Seoul, South Korea last week.
Former world record holder Alipour fell to a last-four setback against Long Jianguo of China, and then clocked 4.94 seconds in the bronze medal contest, just missing out on the podium as American Zach Hammer finished the race in 4.93 seconds.
A world champion in 2018, Alipour will be chasing a third successive Asian Games gold at the Nagoya International Exhibition Hall.
