Army, IRGC warn of decisive response to any aggression
Iran’s Armed Forces, including the Army and Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), in separate statements said that they are ready to defend the country’s territorial integrity and security.
The statements were issued on the occasion of the anniversary of the Iranian Armed Forces' liberation of Khorramshahr – a southern city captured during the 1980-88 Iraq’s war on Iran.
Iran’s Army said it is ready to defend the territorial integrity, independence, and security of the country and will never allow the dreams of the “sworn enemies of this land to come true.”
The statement said that, “Today, enemies are trying to weaken Iran through various conspiracies, but the Iran’s Army will decisively respond to any threat or aggression.”
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) also asserted that it stands "fully ready" to deliver a decisive, regret-inducing response, beyond imagination, to any hostile act by the enemy.
The IRGC continuously enhances its comprehensive defensive preparedness across all fronts, the IRGC said in a statement.
It said that Iran's response will not only force regret upon arrogant aggressors but fundamentally reshape regional power equations in favor of the righteousness front, against the United States and Israeli regime in the West Asia region.
The statements followed a statement by Iran’s Armed Forces on Friday in which it said the United States is perpetrating miscalculations again by inciting the regional countries against the Islamic Republic.
The General Staff of the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces condemned the US’s renewed provocations in the region as manifested by President Donald Trump’s making unsubstantiated and inflammatory remarks about Tehran, and clinching multi-trillion-dollar arms deals during a recent tour to the Persian Gulf Arab states.
The statement referred to Trump as a “lying president,” pointing, among other things, to his referring to the Islamic Republic as “the most destructive force” in the West Asia region, during a visit to Saudi Arabia.
Trump said Iran had to completely abandon its nuclear energy program – prospect utterly ruled out by Iranian officials on every occasion. He also said upon continuing to pursue its nuclear activities, the Islamic Republic would face, what he described as, consequences.
The Armed Forces noted that the American president’s actions in the region were “designed to plunder billions of dollars from brotherly nations under the guise of Iranophobia.”
