Pezeshkian: New government favors expansion of int’l ties

President Masoud Pezeshkian said his government seeks to expand Iran’s international cooperation and relations, especially with the country’s neighbors with the help of domestic capacities.
Referring to the sanctions imposed on Iran with the aim of disrupting the country’s international interactions, Pezeshkian said Iran has 15 neighbors who are willing to expand their relations with Tehran.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a visit to Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, the construction arm of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
The Iranian president underlined the necessity of using domestic capacities as well as taking advantage of the best international capabilities and experiences for realizing the goals set in the country’s Vision Document.
He said that, “If we want to be the region’s main power, we should not lag behind our rivals” in the region.
He also pointed to the importance of the relocation of Iran’s political and economic capital to the vicinity of the high seas in south of the country.
Referring to problems facing Tehran as Iran’s capital, including water shortage and air pollution, Pezeshkian said there is no way but to relocate the capital to south.
He underlined that the development of the country is not possible with the current methods.
The Iranian president held a separate meeting with commanders of Iranian Army on Saturday during a visit to the Army’s University of Command and Staff.
Pezeshkian was elected Iran’s president after defeating Saeed Jalili in the country’s runoff election on July 5.
The runoff followed a June 28 ballot in a snap election to find a successor to the late president Ebrahim Raisi who died with his foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others in a helicopter crash in northwest Iran.
