South Africa is on course to see its most blackout days in history this year with daily power cuts extending to almost 10 hours a day, affecting businesses and households in an economy already hobbled by high interest rates and inflation.
Russian airline resumes regular flights to Cuba
CNBC – Rossiya Airlines, part of Russia’s Aeroflot group, resumed scheduled flights to Cuba.
The first flight of what will begin as a twice-weekly service took off for the Cuban resort of Varadero from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Saturday, Aeroflot said.
Russian airlines suspended flights to Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic on Feb. 28 last year.
Japan aims to become major offshore wind energy producer
AFP – Japan plans to become one of the world’s top offshore wind energy producers, joining the likes of China and the United Kingdom, as it makes the transition to a zero-emission economy while also seeking greater energy security.
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism finished accepting proposals for the second major round of offshore wind tenders to build 1.8 gigawatt capacity in four areas.
