First Festival of Iran’s Ethnic Groups underway in southern Iran

The First Festival of Iran’s Ethnic Groups, which began on June 20, is underway at Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province until June 26.
Farsan Governor Seyyed Hadi Salehi said that the primary objective of the festival is to enhance cultural and artistic activities, foster solidarity among different ethnic groups, highlight their roles in the food chain and production, showcase the capabilities of tourism enthusiasts, inject vibrancy and liveliness into society, and focus on cultural assets, according to IRNA.
Salehi stated, “In Farsan County, households consist of diverse ethnic groups such as Bakhtiari, Qashqai, and Fars, peacefully coexisting alongside each other.”
He recalled that the festival’s sidelines feature an exhibition of souvenirs, handicrafts, and traditional arts representing various Iranian ethnic groups from different provinces. The exhibition boasts 100 booths, with 40 dedicated to showcasing the culture, handicrafts, and traditional arts of ethnic groups and tribes from different regions of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
To accommodate participants, Salehi noted that four schools, guesthouses, and local ecotourism facilities in Farsan have been designated for accommodation during the festival.
He stated, “Art groups from other provinces are present at this festival, performing various programs in different locations throughout Farsan.”
