Raeisi: Iran backs Yemenis’ right to self-determination

Mashat calls for Iran’s active role in solving Yemen’s problems

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi reaffirmed that Iran will support the “rights of the dear people of Yemen and the dialogue to determine the future of the people by themselves,” expressing his hope for more cooperation between the two countries with the establishment of peace and stability.
In a telephone call on Friday evening with Mahdi al-Mashat, chairman of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen, Raeisi congratulated the members of the council and the great, resilient nation of Yemen on the release of a group of Yemeni prisoners, describing it as the result of the resistance of the dear Yemenis, according to president.ir.
The Yemeni official, for his part, congratulated the Iranian government on its successes in various fields in the last year and a half and called for the continuation of the active role of the Islamic Republic in solving Yemen’s problems.
Expressing his satisfaction with the results of the recent talks regarding the resolution of Yemen’s problems, Raeisi said, “We are concerned about the humanitarian situation in Yemen, but we hope that with the continuation of political talks, we will witness the complete release of prisoners, the lifting of the siege of the people, and the establishment of a permanent cease-fire in this country”.
Mahdi al-Mashat also conveyed the greetings of the members of the Political Council of Yemen to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, expressed his appreciation for the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the people of Yemen, and expressed hope that with the empathy of the Islamic world, God will bring the best to the Islamic Ummah (community).
