Iran, Russia, Syria diplomats begin talks on Ankara-Damascus ties

Ali Asghar Khaji, senior adviser to the Iranian foreign minister, who is in Moscow to participate in the quadrilateral meeting of deputy foreign ministers (Iran, Russia, Syria and Türkiye) to resolve Türkiye-Syria tensions, met with Ayman Sosan, the deputy foreign minister of Syria and the accompanying delegation on Monday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest issues related to bilateral relations and political and international developments in Syria.
While welcoming the existing openings in foreign relations and strengthening stability and security in Syria, Khaji emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to continue supporting dialogues for the political settlement of issues between Damascus and Ankara.
For his part, the deputy foreign minister of Syria explained the latest positions of his country regarding the quadrilateral talks, emphasizing the need to strengthen coordination between the two countries.
Continuing his busy schedule, Khaji also met Mikhail Bogdanov, special representative to the Russian president. The two diplomats discussed the latest developments in Syria and the region.
In this meeting, the parties emphasized the need to resolve the existing issues between Syria and Türkiye through a peaceful solution and political talks and expressed their support for the normalization of relations between these two countries within the framework of quadrilateral meetings, based on international laws and principles of good neighborliness.
