Iran names 12-man squad for Beach Soccer Asian Cup
Head coach Ali Naderi has unveiled Iran’s 12-man squad for the upcoming AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup.
The 12th edition of the continental showpiece will kick off on November 18 in Phang Nga, Thailand, where Iran will be chasing a record-extending fifth title and its third consecutive crown.
Seyyed Mohammad Dastan, Mohammadali Mokhtari, Ali Mirshekari, Mahdi Shirmohammadi, Mohammad Ma’soumizadeh, Seyyed Mahdi Mir-Jalili, Seyyed Ali Nazem, Movahed Mohammadpour, Saeid Piramoun, Sobhan Faleh, Davoud Shokri, and Reza Deiri have been named in Naderi’s squad.
Iran will open its title defense against Afghanistan in Group B at Memories Beach Arena on November 19 before taking on Vietnam at the same venue two days later.
The final group-stage match will see Naderi’s men face two-time semifinalists Lebanon on November 23.
The top two teams in each of the three groups will be joined by the two best third-placed teams in the quarterfinals.
In a highly anticipated Group A, hosts Thailand will face three-time champions Japan, 2006 champions Bahrain, and Iraq.
Group C will see 2015 champions Oman lock horns with two-time champions the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan.
Thailand brings back fond memories for the Iranian team, which thrashed Oman 8-1 in the 2025 final in Pattaya after defeating Japan 6-0 in the previous final in the same city in 2023.
