BRICS summit opened new avenues for economic cooperation: Minister
Iranian Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh said on Tuesday that the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, held on Sept. 12-13, had opened new avenues for economic cooperation, with Iran reaching understandings with member and participating countries on cooperation in various economic fields.
Madanizadeh gave an account of his visits to Russia and India, IRNA reported. “At the BRICS leaders’ summit and in the understandings reached at the meeting, we received very positive feedback from the leaders of BRICS member countries, as well as in meetings with the countries attending the summit, where useful areas of cooperation in various economic fields were agreed upon.”
Madanizadeh said another outcome of the trip was laying the groundwork for interaction with BRICS banks, including Russian banks.
“These agreements will certainly help the private sector and the country’s economy.”
Before traveling to India, Madanizadeh made a several-day visit to Moscow for bilateral and multilateral consultations.
On the sidelines of his visit to India, Madanizadeh met with Dilma Rousseff, president of the New Development Bank (NDB), to discuss the institution’s capacity to expand economic cooperation and finance development projects.
The talks covered the NDB’s capacity to finance infrastructure and sustainable development projects, mobilize resources for economic plans and strengthen financial cooperation among member countries and emerging economies.
The NDB finances infrastructure and sustainable development projects in member countries and other emerging economies through various financial instruments.
