Hezbollah: Israeli attacks show failure of direct talks
Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah on Saturday condemned continued Israeli attacks on the country, saying the ongoing “occupation, assaults, killings and destruction” shows that the path of direct negotiations and a framework agreement with the regime has failed.
Hezbollah in a statement that Israel is continuing to escalate its actions against Lebanon through killings, bombardment, the systematic demolition and blowing up of homes and villages, the removal of signs identifying them and the destruction of basic infrastructure needed for life in those areas, according to IRNA.
The group said the attacks continuing without any deterrence and under “baseless pretexts”.
Hezbollah said the latest Israeli attacks on Friday killed at least four people and wounded dozens more.
Hezbollah said the attacks are taking place amid the complete silence of the international community and overt US complicity, while Lebanese officials are entirely absent from their responsibilities.
It accused Lebanese officials of stubbornly sticking to the wrong choices, a concession-making and submissive approach, and a framework that Israel violates every day.
That approach, Hezbollah said, had brought Lebanon nothing but “shame and humiliation” and has served only to entrench the “occupation” and allow Israel’s attacks and actions against the Lebanese people to continue. “This condemned and ongoing aggression, which is carried out with the full participation, cover and planning of the United States, has no justification other than putting pressure on Lebanese officials and blackmailing them to force them to implement agendas whose objectives are known to everyone,” Hezbollah said.
