Pezeshkian: Provisional Leadership Council begins work to continue Ayatollah Khamenei’s legacy

President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a video address to the Iranian nation on Sunday evening that a provisional Leadership Council has begun its work and will continue the path and legacy of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution with full force.
Pezeshkian said that the assassination of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will bring nothing but humiliation for the United States and the Israeli regime.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Expediency Discernment Council announced the appointment of Ayatollah Alireza Arafi as the Guardian Council’s jurist member in the Leadership Council.
Mohsen Dehnavi, spokesperson of the Expediency Discernment Council, made the announcement on his X account on Sunday.
“According to Article 111 of the Constitution, until a new Supreme Leader is appointed, a temporary Leadership Council, consisting of the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and one jurist from the Guardian Council, is formed.
The Expediency Discernment Council has selected Ayatollah Arafi as the jurist member of this council to ensure uninterrupted leadership, while the Assembly of Experts will promptly appoint the permanent Supreme Leader.”
