Iran executes three Mossad spies over assassination plot
The executions, carried out at Urmia Central Prison in northwest Iran, followed a final ruling by the Supreme Court. All three individuals had been convicted of “corruption on earth” and “waging war against God” for smuggling remotely controlled explosive devices to support targeted assassinations, Mizan Online News Agency reported.
The men, identified as Idris Aali, Azad Shojaei, and Rasoul Ahmad, were accused of working under the direction of a Mossad operative based in a neighboring country.
Judicial records show they brought the devices into Iran disguised as shipments of alcohol, a tactic that ultimately enabled the assassination of at least one high-profile individual. The plot, according to Iranian intelligence, was coordinated by “one of the key Mossad agents” operating just outside Iran’s borders.
Their execution follows other high-profile spy cases linked to Mossad. On June 23, authorities executed Mohammad Amin Mahdavi-Shayesteh, described as the ringleader of a cyber-espionage network who allegedly handled both digital propaganda and operational sabotage for Mossad.
He had coordinated content production for anti-Iran media and led field operations that included filming sensitive sites and issuing threats.
One day earlier, on June 22, Majid Mosayebi was hanged after being found guilty of passing sensitive intelligence to Israel. And on June 16, Esmaeil Fekri was executed after establishing encrypted communication channels with Mossad and attempting to sell classified information, including details of strategic military sites.
Iran said it has arrested more than 700 Mossad-linked individuals in recent weeks, citing a “wave of espionage” triggered by Israeli hostilities. Iranian security forces say they have also dismantled several Mossad-run drone facilities across Tehran and other cities.
