Despite more than five months having passed, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has made no progress in investigating the organized and ongoing genocide by the occupying Israel in Palestine. On May 20, 2024, the ICC Prosecutor’s Office demanded arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant. However, Israel and its supporter countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom, have resisted these warrants at every level. The US has openly criticized the ICC’s request for arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, with President Joe Biden labeling the warrants as provocative. Biden reaffirmed that the US does not recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction over Israel and considers the warrants detrimental to peace efforts in the region.
This biased perspective has kept some Western nations from recognizing Israeli crimes.
