Iranian short film scores int’l accolade in New Zealand

Iranian short film ‘Brother’ won the Best International Film Award at the 19th Show Me Shorts Film Festival in New Zealand, making it eligible to compete in the Oscars.
Directed by Mahdieh Qotbeddin Mohammadi, written by Yasin Pour Azizi, and produced by Mohaddese Pirhadi, ‘Brother’ was among 126 short films from 85 filmmakers screened at 40 cinemas in Auckland, Mehr News Agency reported.
The Show Me Shorts Film Festival aims to showcase the best short films from around the world, support filmmakers, and introduce new talent to the film industry. This year’s festival, which runs from October 11 to 31, has been showcasing a diverse range of films that promise to leave a lasting impact on audiences.
The festival has been a launching pad for many filmmakers in New Zealand and has played a significant role in promoting the country’s short film industry.
The film’s international distribution is handled by Soureh Cinema Organization.
