Rail transit via Shahid Rajaee Port up 210% in five months

A provincial official announced a 210% growth in the transit of goods via rail at the Shahid Rajaee Port in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2024).
Director General of Ports and Maritime Organization of Hormuzgan Province Hossein Abbasnejad said that more than two million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded at the port, registering a 5.22 percent growth compared to last year’s corresponding period, Mehr News Agency reported.
As the largest commercial port and international trade gateway of the country, it saw the loading and unloading of 2.143 million tons of goods between March 20 and August 22, 2024, he stated.
The official said developing the railway is one of the important projects at Shahid Rajaee Port.
He also noted that 4,784 tons of basic goods and commodities were transported through the rail lines of Shahid Rajaee Port from March 20 to August 22, 2024.
Wheat products were among the main commodities that were transported from Shahid Rajaee Port to other provinces of the country via the rail network, Abbasnejad said.
