Reactions to Iran’s new cabinet:

Responsible friendship or hasty acts

By Ali Karimi Maleh

Political analyst

Following a period of anticipation, speculation, and individual and collective consultations through novel yet ambiguous mechanisms that held some promise, President Masoud Pezeshkian finally unveiled his proposed cabinet to parliament. The reactions to the appointees and the political makeup of the cabinet from various individuals and political factions were not entirely unexpected. In my view, while these critical reactions serve as constructive and instructive warnings for the president’s future path and choices of statesmen, they also signal a continued commitment to civil participation. However, I find the subsequent actions by certain influential figures to be unrealistic, provocative, and somewhat rash.
As an expert of political science who has advocated for voter turnout as a path toward Iran’s emancipation, enduring reproaches along the way, I have consistently made two key points in my speeches and writings since the day after Pezeshkian’s victory:
Firstly, I have emphasized that Pezeshkian’s cabinet will undoubtedly spring surprises, but we must not let these surprises deter us.
