Iran is a major oil producing country despite sanctions:

Mexican envoy

The United Mexican States’ Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Guillermo Alejandro Puente Ordorica said on Wednesday that despite the sanctions, Iran is one of the important oil producing countries in the region.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Iran Oil Show 2024, the envoy noted that “We all know that Iran’s oil industry is facing sanctions, but sanctions have not limited the development of the country’s oil industry.”
“We participate in the Iran Oil Show 2024 to follow up the opportunities for further cooperation,” the ambassador stated.
Mexico is one of the largest non-OPEC crude oil producers, he said, noting that his country is currently developing its oil industry. “Mexico is now a member of the OPEC+ alliance, so within the framework we can find ways for effective cooperation.”
