Swedish court upholds life sentence for Iranian citizen
A Swedish appeals court on Tuesday upheld a life sentence conviction for a former Iranian judicial official.
Hamid Nouri is an Iranian citizen who has been illegally imprisoned by the Swedish government for 50 months over unfounded allegations, Mehr news agency wrote.
The 62-year-old Iranian citizen and the Iranian Foreign Ministry have vehemently rejected the accusations of breaching international humanitarian law leveled by the Swedish court against him, saying that the verdict was issued under the influence of anti-Iran terrorist groups, most notably the Mujahedeen Khalq Organization.
Noury was arrested at a Stockholm airport in November 2019 after Iranian dissidents in Sweden filed police complaints against him. He has been placed in solitary confinement since his illegal arrest.
