Iran’s Mojallal grabs Asian U23 rowing gold
The fourth day of the Asian Junior & U23 Rowing Championships saw Iranian girl Ftemeh Mojallal walk away with a precious gold medal in the under-23 single sculls contest in Pattaya-Rayong, Thailand.
Mojallal crossed the finish line in 9:07.445 minutes to take her personal gold tally at the event to two, having teamed up with Kimia Zarei for the ultimate prize in the double sculls contest.
The result also meant a second top-podium finish for Zarei, who had clocked 8:07.452 minutes for the under-23 lightweight single sculls.
Meanwhile, Amir-Reza Abdali settled for the sixth place in the men’s under-23 lightweight single sculls event after registering an 8:39.621-minute record in the final, with rowers from Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Uzbekistan finishing first to third respectively.
