The result also meant a second top-podium finish for Zarei, who had clocked 8:07.452 minutes for the under-23 lightweight single sculls.
Meanwhile, Amir-Reza Abdali settled for the sixth place in the men’s under-23 lightweight single sculls event after registering an 8:39.621-minute record in the final, with rowers from Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Uzbekistan finishing first to third respectively.
