Iranian cinemagoers set new record

Iranian film industry saw a new record in terms of the number of viewers on a single day, attracting 272,000 attendees to cinema halls on November 7.
A total of 3,175 screenings were organized, generating box office revenue of $142,000.
According to IRNA, in recent months, the film industry in Iran has experienced a revival, drawing a large number of audiences back to the cinemas.
On November 7, the film with the highest number of viewer was Masoud Atyabi’s comedy ‘Hotel’ that attracted 151,000 moviegoers, earning $80,000.
Iranian animation ‘Smart Kid,’ became the second most-watched film with 50,000 viewers, generating $24,140 revenue in a single day.
From October 24 onwards, each week has seen a steady increase in the number of moviegoers, though ‘Fossil’, directed by Karim Amini, still remains among the top-selling movies. On November 7, this successful comedy attracted an additional 24,000 viewers, adding $12,200 to reach final revenue of $5,600,000.
‘Coconut 2,’ though three months passed from its screening, continues to draw attention. This film attracted over 11,000 viewers on the given day, contributing $5,540 to its box office.
It appears that the Iranian box office favors comedies and children’s films. However, two social films, ‘Popular’ and ‘About Eight O’clock in the Morning,’ began screening on November 8, aiming to positively impact box office revenues.
