Italian ambassador summoned for hosting MKO ringleader
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Italy’s Ambassador to Tehran Giuseppe Perrone to protest a meeting between members of the Italian Parliament and the ringleader of Mujahedeen Khalq Organization (MKO), an anti-Iran terrorist cult.
Director General of Western European Affairs Majid Nili Ahmadabadi emphasized Italy’s international obligations in the fight against terrorism, noting that the meeting of several Italian legislators with a terrorist is a clear example of promoting terrorism, IRNA reported.
The official emphasized that Iran does not tolerate the promotion of terrorism by anyone in any shape and categorically censures it.
The Italian ambassador replied that he would inform his country’s capital of the issue as soon as possible.
Senior Iranian MP Ebrahim Azizi also criticized the Italian Parliament for inviting the terrorist MKO, noting that Iran’s response to the friendship between the Italian Parliament and MKO will be crushing.
