Iran’s men’s sitting volleyball team emerged victorious in a commanding performance against Kazakhstan, securing the gold medal at the 2023 WPV Sitting Volleyball Asian Zone Championship.
In a series of three consecutive sets, Iran triumphed over the host nation with scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-17, as reported by IRNA.
Having already secured their qualification for the upcoming Paralympic Games, Iran’s win ensures that Kazakhstan, as the highest placed non-qualified team in the Asian Zonal Championship, has now solidified their ticket to Paris 2024.
This showdown between Iran and Kazakhstan mirrored their encounter in the 2017 Asian Zone finale held in Hangzhou, China, where Iran showcased their prowess once again, posting a resounding 3-0 victory and ascending to the top of the podium. In the battle for the bronze medal, China defeated Iraq with a score of 3-1 (16-25, 25-15, 25-22, and 25-13).
