Iranian documentary ‘Persepolis- Chicago’ to be screened in Austria

Renowned Iranian filmmaker Orod Atarpour’s compelling documentary, ‘Persepolis- Chicago,’ is set to captivate audiences at the esteemed 1st edition of the History International Film Festival, taking place in Austria from August 9 to 15.
This thought-provoking Iranian production delves into the captivating journey of the Achaemenid tablet fragments, which offer profound insights into the economic, social, and religious dynamics of the Achaemenid Empire during the fifth century BC. These invaluable tablets were unearthed during the excavation of Persepolis, the grand ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire.
Of particular significance is the historical connection between the documentary and the University of Chicago, where, almost a century ago, archaeologists embarked on a mission to repair and study the inscriptions etched upon these ancient tablets. The enthralling narrative of ‘Persepolis- Chicago’ sheds light on this fruitful collaboration between Iranian and American scholars, marking a significant milestone in the exploration of ancient civilizations.
Prior to its screening in Austria, the Iranian documentary has already garnered acclaim, having secured two prestigious awards at the Documentary TAC International Film Festival in the United States.
