Raeisi: OPEC success result of members’ constructive interaction

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi called the constructive interaction among the members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) an important factor behind the success of the international organization.
President Raeisi made the comment during a meeting with Secretary General of OPEC Haitham al-Ghais in Tehran on Saturday. Raeisi noted that Iran has always maintained its constructive cooperation with the organization and aims to continue and promote it.
The purpose of the formation of OPEC was to protect the rights of oil producers and prevent discrimination against them, the Iranian president underlined, while expressing hope that OPEC would be able to stabilize the oil market.

Raeisi also called for unity among the member states, warning that a number of Western governments seek to sow division and discord among OPEC members in order to achieve their own interests.
Al-Ghais, for his part, praised Iran as a founding member of the organization, which has always had fruitful, effective and constructive cooperation with the other members.
He noted that Iran has always contributed to closer unity of OPEC members, both at the ministerial and the technical levels.
He also expressed hope that consensus among OPEC member states as well as Iran’s support and cooperation would help restore calm to the global oil market.
