Iran stands by Palestine both in ‘words and action’
Over the past two days, Iranian officials have expressed their steadfast commitment to the Palestinian youth, noting that Tehran, as always, will support them both in “words and action.”
Addressing a cultural ceremony in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad on Saturday, Brigadier General Esmaeil Qa’ani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), said that his unit will continue to provide support for the young Palestinian resistance forces and their “strong heroic front” to the greatest extent possible, both in words and in practice.
The commander stated that the support and concerted efforts will continue until the complete collapse of Israel.
Paying tribute to the young Palestinian fighters for carrying out operations against the Israeli regime in the West Bank, which amounted to more than 30 operations a day at times, the Iranian commander said, “This is the outcome of the resistance front and the global Islamic mobilization.”
General Qa’ani also noted that the Resistance Front has grown into an extensive axis that has connected various parts of the resistance across the world.
Similarly, in phone conversations with Palestinian resistance figures, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian denounced the Israeli atrocities against civilians in the Gaza Strip and its assassination of resistance leaders.
The Iranian chief diplomat held separate phone conversations with Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas, and Ziyad al-Nakhalah, secretary-general of the Islamic Jihad Movement on Friday.
Amir-Abdollahian condemned Israel for its “brutal aggression,” the “targeted” assassinations of resistance leaders, and the killing of innocent Palestinian women and children, noting that the Israelis showcased their “weakness and frustration” in the face of the resistance of Palestinians.
Haniyeh, for his part, said resistance groups are “ready” and “coordinated” to confront the Israeli attacks, praising the political stance of Iran in support of Palestine.
“The resistance will determine the fate of this Zionist aggression, and the Israeli regime has no other choice but to surrender,” Haniyeh said.
Meanwhile, Nakhalah said Palestinians will continue to resist until the regime accepts the conditions put forward by the resistance, Press TV reported.
At least 33 Palestinians including children have been killed and 147 wounded in the besieged enclave since the bombardment started on Tuesday. Two Israelis have died in rocket attacks, according to Al Jazeera.
Sirens sounded in southern Israel near the town of Ashkelon after rockets were launched from Gaza.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces killed at least two Palestinians and wounded three in the Balata refugee camp in the northern city of Nablus.
Israel has ruled out an immediate truce in Gaza, saying the onus is on the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to stop launching rockets as it bombed the enclave for the fifth straight day.
