Iran’s Qassempour elected as IFLA member

Following the announcement of the IFLA 2023 election results, Sakineh Qassempour has been selected as a member of the Literacy and Reading Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).
Iran Public Libraries Foundation, which participated in the election for the first time, introduced four representatives for the IFLA elections.
Qassempour, who is the director general of the Planning Department of Iran Public Libraries Foundation, was picked from four Iranian representatives introduced for the election.
Qassempour will serve as a member of the Literacy and Reading Section for a period of four years, from August 2023 to August 2027.
Born in 1993, she holds a doctorate in information science and epistemology from Alzahra University.   IFLA sponsors the annual IFLA World Library and Information Congress, promoting access to information, ideas, and works of imagination for social, educational, cultural, democratic, and economic empowerment.
