The music of the performance is based on authentic Iranian music, music of tanbur (a long-necked fretted lute), and contemporary music in combination with classical music and electronic music.
The story of each piece will be performed by a 16-member ensemble, designed by Pegah Niyaei.
Orchestra conductor Bardia Kiaras, Mehdi Monadi, Makan Khouinejad, and Ramin Darestani will accompany Pournazeri.
‘Through Skin’, Iran’s sole representative at Cannes
ILNA – Iranian short film ‘Through Skin’ will have its first international debut at La Cinef Section of the 76th Cannes Film Festival, slated from May 16 to 27.
Co-directed by Shafagh Abusaba and Maryam Mahdieh, the 16-miniute film is Iran’s sole representative at the event.
The synopsis of this short film reads: “An unexpected confrontation brings Ali’s image of himself closer to reality.”
For its 26th edition, La Cinef selected among 2000 films submitted by film schools from all around the world, 14 short fictions and 2 animated short films, among which 10 films are directed by women and 7 films by men. 13 countries from 4 continents are represented including Morocco, for the first time in selection.
The Jury chaired by Ildikó Enyedi will give out three La Cinef awards, during a ceremony that will be followed by the screening of the awarded films, Thursday, May 25, in the Buñuel theatre.
AtoZinema company, managed by Azadeh Masihzadeh, is responsible for the international distribution of the film.
