Dehgolan, an agricultural hub with significant tourism attractions

Kurdestan Province is in western Iran, near the border with Iraq; each city of the province has its own unique attractions.
With a very beautiful plain and several historical hills, Dehgolan is 45km from the provincial capital city of Sanadaj.
Known as the agricultural hub of the region, Dehgolan is home to an impressive selection of attractions, making it well worth a visit. In the early days of spring, its green plains, blooming trees and snow-covered mountains dazzle the eyes.
The city has 116 historical sites, 62 of which have been registered on Iran’s National Heritage List , according to IRNA.
Sheyda Mountain
Sheyda Mountain, with an elevation of 2,232 meters, is a popular resort among locals and tourists. There is a tomb on the peak of the mountain which, according to the some sources, belongs to Amanullah Khan, an old governor of Kurdestan Province. The locals believe there are turquoise stones in the holes of the building’s bricks which shine at night.
Known as a sacred place among the locals, the monument hosts many ceremonies throughout the year. It was registered on Iran’s National Heritage List in 2002.
There is a rock on the mountain, with hieroglyphic script. It also has a fire temple that has been destroyed but its rocks and ashes remain.
Sheytan Bazaar
Sheytan Bazaar is a region that lies two kilometers from Sheyda Mountain. The natural climate, such as wind and rain, has caused the limestone rocks of the region to be shaped into various strange figures including humans and animals.
Haft Savaran Mountain
Haft Savaran Mountain, located near Mobarakabad village, is among the must-see places of Dehgolan.
It is said that in ancient times seven horsemen, who escaped from their enemy, took refuge and stayed there for a while. They were also buried there.
Telvar village
On the bank of a river with the same name, Telvar village is 10 minutes from Dehgolan.
It is an historical village in the northern part of Dehgolan, with an ancient hill which was registered on Iran’s Natural Heritage List in 2004.

Machekeh-ye Olya
Machekeh-ye Olya is a small and beautiful village, with a population of 300. Most of its inhabitants are engaged in livestock breeding and farming. It has several historical heritage sites including an old tomb and ancient hill.
