Brigadier General Ramezan Zirrahi, the commander of IRGC Navy’s second region, said round-the-clock monitoring of the Persian Gulf, using modern and advanced equipment, led to the seizure of a vessel carrying 1,450,000 liters of smuggled fuel.
Zirrahi added that the destination of the vessel was one of the countries of the Persian Gulf, adding that thanks to the coordination of the judicial organization, an order was issued to seize the aforementioned vessel and the fuel was delivered to the National Oil Products Distribution Company.
Last year, 1,600,000 liters of smuggled fuel were discovered in the Persian Gulf.
He said that the vessel’s crew members were also arrested by the Iranian forces.
Zirrahi noted that providing the security of the Persian Gulf is among the most important missions of the country’s naval
forces.
