Iran, Azerbaijan national libraries to boost cooperation
Head of the National Library and Archives of Iran Alireza Mokhtarpour and Azerbaijan Culture Minister Anar Karimov in a meeting discussed developing Iran-Azerbaijan cultural ties.
Referring to the long history of cooperation between the National Library and Archives of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mokhtarpour called for establishing workgroups to implement the signed MoUs between the two organizations, Mehr News Agency reported.
“The National Library and Archives of Iran will cooperate with the Republic of Azerbaijan. These two countries have always been friends and companions throughout history,” he added.
Karimov, for his part, described the Iranian national library as a valuable treasure and called for developing cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the commemorative plaque of the Iranian library along with exquisite Iranian artworks were presented to the Azerbaijani minister.
Karimov also presented Mokhtarpour with several Azerbaijani old books.
Nearly 4m cinephiles go to cinemas in three months
Almost four million cinema lovers went to movie theaters in the first three months of the current Iranian year ending June 21.
Iranian movie theaters welcomed a total of 3,913,339 people in the three-month period, ILNA reported.
Among the 222 Iranian cineplexes, Koroush Mall, Iran Mall, Mellat, Azadi, and Hoveyze had the highest number of viewers, respectively.
‘The Situation of Mehdi,’ ‘Silent Snail,’ ‘Sea Boys,’ and ‘No Prior Appointment’ were among the 20 films which were screened at the Iranian cinemas during the said period.
Iran’s film industry, which produces 100 features and 3,000 short films annually, has received numerous awards from international festivals and is currently among the world’s most dynamic cinemas.
Iran’s northwestern city of Tabriz hosts concert
Iran’s northwestern city of Tabriz hosted a concert titled, ‘Don’t Go without Me,’ performed by Hesameddin Seraj and Atabak Atri with the cooperation of the Taraneh Band in Tabriz on June 21, and 22.
Iran’s prominent music player Ardeshir Kamkar also performs at the concert, ISNA reported.
Speaking about the history of joint concerts with different Iranian tribes, Seraj said that the first joint concert was staged in 2017 in the Ministry of Interior’s Hall in Tehran.
Seraj said that Persian music and music from Azarbaijan region have a lot in common.
Touching upon the history of art in Tabriz, Seraj said that there have been great music masterpieces in the city which must be preserved.
All Iranian music pieces must include a kind of innovation. Otherwise, they are doomed to fail, the vocalist added.
The dynamism of Iran’s current music is owed to great musicians such as Seraj and Kamkar, Atri said.
Kamkar said that music is an international language that can convey each kind of feeling.
Iranian music is an integration of music compositions made by artists from various parts of Azarbaijan, Baluchestan, Khorasan, Kurdestan and other provinces, he noted.
On the importance of teamwork, Kamkar said that any country’s music cannot flourish except through collaboration between several artists.
27th Int’l Theater Festival for Children and Young Adults opens
The 27th International Theater Festival for Children and Young Adults opened on Tuesday night.
A jury member of the festival Shahram Karami said that the event plays an important role in the growth of children and young adults.
He added that the festival is highly important and its influence could be reviewed from various perspectives.
“This festival is a reciprocal opportunity for both artists and cultural officials, because artists can use this event to promote knowledge, science, awareness and better communication between the theatrical community of children and young adults and cultural officials can use the arts of children and youths to create a window to expand arts and culture.”
The festival returns after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic with participants from Italy, Greece, Turkey, Armenia and Iraq.
The motto of this year’s festival is: “Theater, the Flying of the Butterflies’ Imaginations”.
Five hundred works from domestic and foreign theater groups were submitted, 76 of which got the judges’ nod to participate in the event.
The 27th edition of the festival opened in Hamedan on June 22 and will wrap up on June 27 with announcing the winners.
The festival runs under the supervision of Amir Mashhadi-Abbas.
Artist’s books of Iran’s illustrator Adim to be on view
An exhibition of artist’s books made by Iran’s photographer and illustrator Koroush Adim will open in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran on June 24.
Curated by Saeid Mazinani, the exhibition titled, ‘Slow Rate,’ will run through July 22 at the Didi Museum Gallery, according to ISNA.
Artist’s book (or book arts or book objects) are artworks that utilize the form of the book. They are often published in small editions, though they are sometimes produced as one-of-a-kind objects.
‘Frontiers of Encounter,’ ‘Beyond the Face,’ ‘The Ambiguous Presence of Meaning,’ and ‘The Pure Presence’ are among Adim’s published books.
