The 26th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition of Iran (Iran Oil Show 2022) kicked off in Tehran on Friday.
The four-day exhibition was inaugurated with the presence of Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji, senior managers of the oil industry, and a group of Iran’s members of Parliament, IRNA reported.
A total of 1,200 Iranian companies as well as 44 foreign companies from 11 countries including Italy, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, the Switzerland, Germany, Ukraine, South Africa and Belgium showcase their products in the exhibition.
Accordingly, some space has been dedicated to showcasing 100 new technology-based firms (NTBFs) in the event.
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and upstream industries vitrine their products and achievements in halls 8 and 9 as universities and scientific centers, startups, and science and technology parks in are accommodated in halls 10 and 11.
Petrochemical and related industries are present in hall 38A, gas and related industries, and industries active in the field of pipes, pipe coverings and valves in Hall 38, refining and distribution and related industries in Hall 5 and rotary machines in Hall 27.
 

Iran’s largest carmaker the IKCO reported a record daily output figure amid efforts in the company to improve production processes.
The Iran Khodro Company’s news service said that the combined production of cars and heavy-duty vehicles has reached an all-time high of 3,616 units on May 11, reported Press TV.
“The registered output record in the fields of cars and heavy and semi-heavy duty commercial vehicles is unprecedented in the history of the IKCO group,” said the company in a statement.
It said 68% of the vehicles produced on May 11 were finished cars that were ready to be sent to dealerships, adding that the figure is a record in the past six years.
The IKCO has been facing criticism for lack of ability to deliver products on time. It has blamed the issue on parts shortages, especially for items that are supplied from abroad.
The company said in its Thursday statement that it will bring the number of unfinished cars in its production lines to zero on May 22.
The record daily output in the IKCO comes amid a government-led campaign to introduce reforms in Iran’s homegrown car industry.
The campaign started in early March following a major decree by the Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, who personally visited production facilities and yards run by the IKCO in west of Tehran.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has also been critical of the low quality of cars produced inside Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated the criticism in a speech to laborers earlier this week and said that domestic automotive companies need to do more to boost the quality and competitiveness of their products.
 

The Iranian government approved major price hikes for four essential food items as part of a plan to liberalize prices by removing subsidies given to importers and suppliers and redirecting them to the households.
A Thursday announcement by Iran’s Headquarters for Market Regulation raised the prices of dairy products, chicken, egg and cooking oil, Press TV wrote.
According to the announcement, the price of a one-liter bottle of low-fat milk rose by more than 50% to 180,000 rials ($0.6) while chicken and egg prices per kilogram nearly doubled to 598,000 rials and 398,000 rials, respectively.
Cooking oil price rose nearly fourfold to 630,000 rials ($2.06) for a bottle of 810 grams. The price hikes came two days after the government deposited around 400 trillion rials ($1.5 billion) worth of cash subsidies to accounts held by more than 23.6 million households in Iran.
The payments have been made under a plan to stop subsidizing essential food items and to combat trafficking and corruption in supply chains.  
Government authorities have defended the plan as necessary in light of problems in the global supply of food and grain caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
A report by IRNA described the situation in the essential food market as calm and said the government will closely monitor the situation to prevent any irregularities in the supply and pricing of food products.
Iranian Agriculture Ministry said tens of thousands of inspectors have been dispatched to shops and supply centers across Iran to help implement the price hike plan.
 

The Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran bought nearly 1.5 million tons of wheat from farmers in the country in the new harvesting season that started early April as authorities hope increased domestic crop could allay concerns about international supplies affected by the war in Ukraine.
GTC’s CEO Saeid Rad said that the government is seeking to fast-track payments due to domestic growers to encourage more wheat delivery to government silos until the end of the harvesting season in late July, Press TV reported.
Rad said more than 92,710 trillion rials ($322 million) of payments has been made to wheat farmers in recent weeks to settle a bulk of the purchases hat have been carried out in recent weeks.
Iran has nearly doubled the guaranteed purchase price for wheat to 115,000 rials ($0.4) per kilogram this harvesting season.
The government hopes the price could lead to increased domestic supplies this year as the country expects lower imports of wheat because of a war between Russia and Ukraine that has affected global supplies of grains.
For years, Iran has covered wheat and several other crops in its guaranteed purchase price scheme. However, purchases have declined in recent years because of price issues causing some farmers to switch to other crops or to sell their produce to the middlemen.
A new administrative government that took office in August has vowed it would expand contract farming to major crops to prevent price fluctuations in the market that are caused by lack of balance in supply and demand.
Iran’s demand for wheat is expected to reach nearly 15 million tons this year. The country imported around eight million tons of the crop over the calendar year to March with a bulk of the supply coming from Russia.
Rad said wheat purchases had started in eight Iranian provinces that are mostly located in south of the country where early harvest of the crop is possible because of the warmer weather.
He said the province of Khuzestan on the southwestern border with Iraq had supplied 900,000 ton of wheat to the GTC silos over the past month.
